Online Blackjack is easily one of the most classic casino games. The game’s historical origins started a good 500 – 600 years ago, and it still enjoys a reputation as being one of the most beloved games of all time. The rules are quite simple and this game can be played by just employing luck or by mixing skill in with luck.

How to Play Blackjack Online

The game of Blackjack is played with 4 full decks of cards and after each hand the cards are reshuffled. While the game come in many different variations, the main objective of the game stays the same. The objective is to have a hand that is valued at 21 or at least has a higher value than the dealer’s hand without being higher than 21. If the players hand is higher than 21 (or the dealer, for that matter) they automatically lose. This is called a bust. The dealer wins if his hand is higher than the players and not over 21 and the player wins if his hand is higher than the dealers but is not higher than 21. If the player of the dealer end up with the same value (i.e., a tie) no one wins and this is usually called a push.

Blackjack Game Rules

To play, you must first place your bets. Afterward, the dealer deals the cards. You will be dealt 2 cards face up and then the dealer deals himself one card face up and another card face down. Now you have the following options: Hit/Stand, Surrender, Insurance, Double down, Even Money or Split. When you hit, you are asking the dealer for another card.

You can continue to hit and receive cards as long as you don’t bust (go over 21). If you choose to stand, then you stick with your hand and wait to see what the dealer uncovers. Surrendering is another option. This is essentially where you can back out of the initial wager and you will automatically lose but only with half the bet, not the entire bet. You can’t surrender once you have hit, split, or doubled down. As you can see, Blackjack is one of the best online casino games available at Prism Casino, and its suitable for both experience and new players.

Insurance

Image Hunter Insurance is an option that is normally offered to a player is a dealer shows an ace. If the dealer shows an ace then the player can bet that the dealers other card is a 10. Insurance bets are normally limited to only half of the original bet placed by the player. To do this, click on the button marked “Insurance” or click “Pass”. If you take this bet and the dealer does have a 10 (a natural 21) then the insurance pay is 2:1 therefore, while you will lose your initial bet you will still break even with the insurance bet (hence the name). Another option is doubling down. This gives you the opportunity to increase your original wager after the first 2 cards are dealt. If you feel that you have a winning hand you can increase your original bet but after you double down you are only limited to receive one more additional card.

Even Money is when you are dealt a natural 21 (your first 2 cards equal 21). This is quite similar to an Insurance bet as the dealer is showing an ace but in this case, you already have 21. Now you can limit your loses in the case that the dealer also has 21 (not uncommon if the dealer is already showing an ace). This will allow the player to break even if the dealer has a 10 as the other card. Lastly, a split is when you are dealt two matching cards. If you decide to split in such a case, what you do is split the pair into two separate hands (you will see a split button appear on the screen and you can choose whether you want to split or not). If you split the initial wager now applies to both hands. After splitting a player can only hit one more time.
