Last minute gift ideas for the gamblers in your life

By on

If you’re anything like me, you hate Christmas shopping. I’d rather watch 24 hours of baseball (boring!) than set foot in a mall for 30 seconds any time during December.

And that’s why I wait until the very last minute to buy Christmas gifts for my friends. Unfortunately, every year, like clockwork, I find myself at the mall searching for gifts with way too many other last-minute shoppers, failing to adhere to my no malls in December policy.

But this year is different. This year I’m doing all my last-minute Christmas shopping online. And here’s what I’ve come up with—the perfect gifts for the gamblers in my life. I’ve covered pretty much every spending category, so no matter what you’re budget is you’ll find something you love. And no matter who you’re shopping for, you’ll find a gift that fits.

For: Your Best Friend

Budget: $500+

So you want to get your gambling buddy something cool? Tablets are all the rage, so we recommend the Microsoft Surface 2. It’s a beautiful tablet that can run pretty much any online casino or poker site. Why? Because it runs Windows 8. You’ll want to make sure you opt for the pro version. Unfortunately, there are two models. The Windows RT version doesn’t run regular online casino apps.

For: Your Work Bestie

Budget: $25-$50

They’re the person you confide in most at the office. The one you complain about your boss to. The one you go to lunch with. They’re your work bestie. And they deserve something cool. You know they love poker, so why not splurge for a home poker set? You can grab a pretty nice one on eBay for about $30, complete with hundreds of casino-style chips.

For: The Girl or Guy You’ve Been Flirting With at Work

Budget: $40

You work together, but you hope it can be more. You flirt a lot, but you aren’t sure if they’re really into you as much as you’re into them. And you don’t want to ruin a good thing. The best idea here is to take things slow but give them a gift that shows you put some thought into it. Since they share your passion for gambling, put together a mix of your favorite gambling movies. We recommend Casino, 21, and Rounders. Grab them on Blu-Ray, wrap them up, and when they open the gift, let them know that they’re your favorite movies and you’d love to watch them together. If they respond hesitantly and seem uninterested, you can follow it up with, “Yeah, we’ll have a cool movie day at the office and invite all the gambling fans.” But if they seem really interested, you can hint that you’d love to go for dinner and follow it up with some quality movie time.

Waited until the very last minute and don’t have time to hit the mall, let alone by something online? Set them up with a free Prism Casino account. All you need is their personal info like home address and date of birth and you’re good to go. If you want, make a deposit of any amount you like and start them off with a real-money bankroll. With so many jackpots waiting to be popped, you might just make this Christmas their best one yet.
