Who doesn’t bet on dumb everyday things? I bet that the majority of people gamble almost on an everyday basis. And, did you notice I just made a bet?
I have heard of the craziest things being bet on, but I decided that the best way to write this post would be by asking you guys about the craziest things you or anyone you know, have gambled on. I mean, the more realistic these stories are, the better… Or let’s just say, the more entertaining.
“My brother in law was once at a poker tournament at a friend’s house. This story is not a funny one, it’s actually quite sad, but it is definitely crazy or stupid. Choose your adjective. Anyway, the game got a bit aggressive after five hours and the players started betting personal items. What my sister or any other relative of our family expected, was that my brother in law actually would actually bet his only house. He was not drunk and that’s the day my sister discovered that what she thought was a hobby, was actually a damaging addiction. He lost the house that was the home of my sister, my two nephews and a cat. They divorced shortly after that.” -John
“I come from Egypt and my father always told me the story of a friend of his that bet his wife in a card game and actually lost her. I always thought that the story was pure fiction, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2013 that I went back to Cairo on holidays, that I found out it was true. I was doing grocery shopping with my dad when he pointed at a lady and said: “Do you see that woman there? That’s the wife my friend lost on a game that I have always told you about.” Believe me, even for us Egyptians men, this is a rare gambling story.” -Ali
“I earned my breast implants at a casino. We met some guys at the bar and my girlfriend told one of them that I am a great blackjack player. I am! The guy started getting smart with me and he challenged me to a bet. He was so insistent, that I accepted the challenge as soon as he said: “I’ll give you or any of your relatives breast implants. I’m a surgeon.” If he won, I had to invite him to my relative’s house in Sao Paulo. I would’ve never taken him, but I knew I would win” –Alina
“My own father owns a bodega in The Bronx, because he won it on a bet and it’s been his business for the past 35 years. And that’s a true story! –Carlos
“My girlfriend recently lost her high powered, high tech, Orbitrek (or so I think it’s still called) in a bet with her boss. And that’s a true story. Believe me, if I didn’t love her this much, it could be a good reason for a break-up.”
As you can see, gambling sometimes can turn into something weird, ugly and even incredibly uncomfortable…have you ever made any weird bets?
