If you’ve never played Baccarat, don’t be intimidated. It’s incredibly easy to grasp, and once you understand the basics, you’ll be able to play online and win real money doing it.
Understanding the Baccarat Table
The table might look a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re used to more straightforward table games like 21 or War. But the game is actually really easy to play.
On the table you’ll see two boxes where cards are dealt. One box is for the banker. The other box is for the player. But here’s the thing. The player’s hand isn’t necessarily your hand. When you play Baccarat online, you get to decide which hand to bet on. At the bottom of the Baccarat table, you’ll see three more boxes—Player, Banker, and Tie. To play Baccarat online, just throw your chips down on one of those boxes. You’re betting on whether the Banker’s hand will win, whether the player’s hand will take it, or whether the two hands will tie.
Once you’re happy with your bet, just hit the Deal button to start dealing out the cards.
In online Baccarat, the object of the game is to get as close to 9 as possible. Unlike Blackjack, you can’t actually bust. Face cards and tens have no value, and if your count runs over 9, the count is reset to 0 (for example, if you’re dealt a 5 and then an 8, you now stand at 3, and you’ll be dealt a third card).
You’re dealt two cards to start. If the hand totals 0 through 5, you’ll get another card. If the hand is valued at 6 or 7, no third card is dealt. An 8 or 9 hand total automatically wins, and if the hand ties (and assuming a tie bet was placed) the hand pays out 9 to 1.
Tips For Beating the Table
Looking for a free online Baccarat strategy tip? Here’s one we recommend you follow. A lot of new players are tempted to bet on a tie. After all, who wouldn’t want to get paid out 9 to 1? Unfortunately, the odds of actually hitting a tie are ridiculously low. So low that it rarely happens. We recommend avoiding tie bets, unless you’ve gone on a pretty solid winning streak and can afford the lower odds.
